With a record of just 2 wins (9 drawn & 19 lost) in 30 tests since June 2005 the West Indies will be hoping that they can build on last Decembers morale building 0-0 draw away to New Zealand with a win against England here in the 1st Test.
The Windies must surely be regretting naming their squad before Lendl Simmons 282 for West Indies A team, surely his time will come later in this series. Spinner Amit Jaggernauth may win only his 2nd Test cap at the expense of a fourth seamer as the pitch at Sabina Park is not as hostile as previous and is now a bit more spin friendly.
Englands only concern is the fitness of Andrew Flintoff, if he dosen't make it either Owais Shah or Adil Rashid will slot in at number six as Bell is expected to hang onto the number three spot at the expense of the unlucky Shah yet again. Ryan Sidebottom looks set to return and Harmison would appear to have got the nod over James Anderson. Monty Panaser looks to have held off Graeme Swan for the spinning berth for the time being at least.
