This weeks Whyte & Mackay Premier League Darts comes from Ricoh Arena in Coventry. This is the venue that around this time last year witnessed Peter Manley's 8-3 thrashing of Phil Taylor, the turning point in Taylor's season. Taylor is having no such problems with form this season and is as short as 1/7 to continue his winning run against a Terry Jenkins who is struggling this season but is still showing his battling qualities in drawing his opening two games.
In the second match both Raymond van Barneveld and James Wade are still looking for their first wins. Barney had the misfortune to be up against Taylor on Week 1 and last week fought out an exciting draw with John Part. Wade looked awful last week getting a good 8-1 beating from Mervyn King, in a similar way to Taylor last year after shedding a few kilos he looks like he's struggling to find his range at the moment.
The in form Mervyn King this week is taking on 3 times World Champion John Part, such is the form of King the bookies have him odds on favourite at 4/6 to win this one. John Part has had two creditable draws so far against Barney and Wade, he also looks to be far more competitive than he did last season and will be looking to put a stop to the King bandwagon.
The nights last match should be a lively one, it sees the ultra fast Jelle Klaasen taking on the ultra inconsistent Wayne Mardle. Hard to know what to expect here, the bookies make Klaasen evens favourite with Mardle at 2/1, hopefully it will be a classic, from a betting point of view though i think i'll take a watching brief.
