South Africa started the day on 85 for 3 and soon found themselves in more trouble when McKenzie was given out lbw in just the fourth over, it didn't get much better after that as South Africa limped to 220 all out, an unbeaten century from AB de Villiers was the only resistance.

Australia decided against enforcing the follow-on and will be looking to build on their 297 run lead quickly in the morning as there is rain forcast again tomorrow. When the declaration finally comes it remains to be seen if South Africa can be as poor with the bat again, in similar circumstances last year they collapsed against England in their 1st innings - not reaching the follow on target - and then comfortably batted for two days to secure the draw.
