Did New Zealand blow their best chance of leveling the series in the last test? The fact they could only manage four Indian wickets during the last two days could have knocked the stuffing out of the Kiwi's bowling. If thats not enough for Daniel Vettori to cope with he was far from impressed with the pitch again, for the second test running his requests seem to have been ignored, wanting a pitch with a bit of grass to assist his seamers and produce a needed result Vettori was greeted with the site of a nice flat hard surface that will appeal to India's batsmen.
If India can avoid defeat it will be only their second ever test series victory in New Zealand - the only other one came in 1968. The backs-to-the-wall batting display last week that earned them a draw and ensured they couldn't lose the series must have felt like a win to them.
New Zealand are considering going into the match with two spinners again, the pitch seems to give Jeetan Patel a good chance of playing - if not it would be a choice between Tim Southee and the erratic of late Kyle Mills. Daniel Flynn will take his place if fit, Jamie How is on stand-by. India Captain MS Dhoni is still strugglig with his back problem - stating that it has improved but not necessarily enough to play in a test match. Apart from that they expect to be unchanged.
