India are well placed at the end of the 2nd days play and that is supported by the bookies who have them at a best priced 4/11 with Ladbrokes to win the 1st test, they ended the day on 278/4 just one run behind the Kiwis.

After the ridiculous run out of Virender Sehwag early on the tourists batsmen were quite watchful and careful as there is just that something in the wicket still for the bowlers, Gautam Gambhir and Rahul Dravid both scored half centuries but the Indians will be disappointed that neither of them managed to convert a good start in a big score. With Sachin Tendulkar unbeaten on a watchful 70 and Yuvraj at the crease with him India will be looking to push on and create a large 1st innings lead.

On a positive note for the Kiwis, their bowlers kept on going and managed to keep the shackles on India, the Indians also never really looked totally at ease when batting either which should keep the New Zealand bowlers interested.
