Betting Guide

Bolton V Hull

After last Saturday's disasterous result against Stoke, Hull arguably have one last chance today against a Bolton side who it would be fair to say seem to have gone off the boil since reaching the 40 point mark. Although Bolton could still by some mathematic miracle go down it would take an amazing sequence of results. After being in a similar position this time last Saturday, Hull have to cash in today or that is surely it for them. With no form what so ever 12/5 on Hull away dosen't sound too inviting a prospect, Bolton on the other hand have been awful lately so who could take the 5/4 on offer for them? With so much riding on this game for Hull and with Bolton in no form either - just one goal in their last four games - the draw at 12/5 seems the logical bet although the adventurous might go for Hull at the same price.

Middlesbrough V Aston Villa

Middlesbrough are another side on the brink and could go today if results go against them. Getting a better result than Newcastle today is imperative as goal difference will send them down if they are still three points behind the Geordie's tonight. Monday night's defeat to Newcastle was a massive blow for a side already low on confidence and their only real hope now is that Villa today show the same sort of form of late which hasn't been great with a couple of their squad already seemingly on the beach. The news of Martin Laursen's retirement yesterday won't have done anything for Villa's morale and Boro really need to take advantage of that. With Villa having nothing - except maybe a top 5 finish - to play for and Boro's nerves in such an important match it's a tight one to try to call. This is reflected in the betting with Boro at 13/8 and Villa at 9/5, the bookies seem to have called it right as I have no idea which way this one might go.

Newcastle V Fulham

This for me is the most interesting game today, with Newcastle winning on Monday people have been of the opinion that all Newcastle have to do today is turn up for the three points. Taking into account that Fulham are a very good team having a great season and that Newcastle are far from a good team - average at best - and that opinion could be a flawed one. Roy Hodgson's team will be looking for three points to try and hold on to the 7th position and final Europa League spot that they currently occupy ahead of Tottenham, West Ham and Man City. Recent away wins at Man City and Bolton has seen them end the arguement that they can't perform away from Craven Cottage. Newcastle on the other hand have managed just one win under Shearer and have lets be honest about it looked totally hopeless and clueless during this time - a win over an equally useless Middlesbrough is hardly a turning point and is definately nothing to get carried away about. With 3/1 on offer for Fulham it's obvious where the value lies here.
