2010 General Election Betting

In the lead up to the forthcoming British General Election I will be keeping an eye on the odds as to who will be the outright winner, or 'Win the Most Seats' as some bookmakers may refer to it as.

Every Wednesday evening I will post the best odds as to who the bookies think is most likely to be in 10 Downing Street by May/June time. Also there will be odds as to what date the election will be held and various other specials.

Todays Events

Today, David Cameron got a good hammering at PMQs by Gordon Brown, at times Cameron looked like he had ran out of ideas and things to say in what was his worst performance for a long time at the dispatch box.

At one stage Cameron had no point at all to make and just used up one of his questions to try and ridicule Brown with points about him being washed up and out of touch, this coming after Brown had successfully attacked Cameron over indecisive Tory plans for tax breaks for married couples, in fairness Brown had won hands down.

All this good work was undone later in the afternoon as a new year gift was delivered to David Cameron when the news broke that Patricia Hewitt and Geoff Hoon have called for a secret ballot among Labour MPs on the future of the party leader, ensuring all Thursdays newspaper headlines wouldn't be about PMQs, but Labours apparent suicide.

To Win General Election (Most Seats) Betting

The Conservative Party are 1/12 favourites with Paddy Power, Ladbrokes and Bet365
Labour are 13/2 with VC Bet and William Hill
Liberal Democrats are 150/1 with Bet365
Any other party are 500/1 with Bet365

PDC Darts World Championship - Final Betting

Coverage of tonights final and 3rd place match starts on Sky Sports 1 at 7pm.

Final - Phil Taylor V Simon Whitlock

Simon Whitlock will be looking to continue his remarkable run when he takes on Phil-the power-Taylor in tonights PDC World Darts Championship Final.

Taylor has walked into the final virtually unopposed, dropping only one set on his march towards an inevitable looking 15th title. Mark Webster was his latest victim last night, he was crushed 6-0 in his semi-final with an awesome Taylor only dropping four legs in the one sided thrashing.

Simon Whitlock's run to the final has been anyting but easy, he had to beat world number 3, James Wade in the quarter-finals and then number 2, Raymond van Barneveld in last nights semi-final.

Barney looked set to end Whitlock's run when he went into a 4-2 lead in sets and the Aussie looked like he had finally cracked. Whitlock then showed what he was made of as he powered into a 5-4 lead, leaving Barney looking down and out.

In what was fast becoming the match of the tournament, Barney fought back to make it 5-5 and then had his chances in the deciding set, before Whitlock finally finished him off.

Quite how much Simon Whitlock has left in the tank for tonights match, who knows? He has had mentally punishing matches for the previous two nights against Wade and Barney, whereas Taylor has got through his games with ease, he should feel the fresher of the two.

Betting

Not surprisingley Phil Taylor is a heavy odds on favourite to win at a best price of 1/8 with Boylesports.

Simon Whitlock is a best price of 6/1 with Sportingbet to cause a massive upset.

Third Place Play-Off - Raymond van Barneveld V Mark Webster

Barney is favourite at 1/3 with Totesport and Sky Bet.

Webster is 11/4 with Stan James and VC Bet.

PDC World Darts - Outright Winner Betting 02/01/10

Only the four men left after yesterdays quarter-finals, Simon Whitlock is the big mover coming in from 14's to 7/1, Taylor has also shorted - from 4/9 to 1/5 - after beating Adrian Lewis 5-0.

Outright Winner Betting - Ahead of Semi-Finals

Phil Taylor is 1/5 with William Hill, Sportingbet and Coral
Simon Whitlock is 7/1 with Sportingbet
Raymond van Barneveld is 11/1 with Ladbrokes and Boylesports
Mark Webster is 40/1 with Ladbrokes, Paddy Power, 888Sport, Bet365 and Blue Square

PDC World Championship: Semi-Final Betting

Semi-Finals are live tonight on Sky Sports 1 at 7.30 pm

Match 1 - Raymond van Barneveld V Simon Whitlock

Simon Whitlock (with obvious exception of Phil Taylor) is the form man in this years competition, seeing off Colin Osborne, Wayne Jones, Terry Jenkins and James Wade on his way to tonights semi-final, showing just how strong the competition in the PDC has become.

His reward for coming through this tough schedule is a showdown with the world number 2 Raymond van Barneveld. Barney hasn't looked himself so far in this tournament, although that hasn't prevented him from doing a nine darter. Ronnie Baxter was expected to give him a tough examination yesterday, but Barney came through an easy 5-0 winner.

Like James Wade found out yesterday, Barney must know that if he turns up with anything less than his 'A' game, his chances of reaching the final will be very slim.

Simon Whitlock is slight favourite at a best price of 5/6 with Boylesports.

Raymond van Barneveld is 11/10 with Blue Square, Betfred, Bet365, 888Sport, Paddy Power, Ladbrokes, Totesport, VC Bet and William Hill.

Match 2 - Phil Taylor V Mark Webster

Mark Webster was impressive in his victory over Co Stompe, he raced into a 4-0 lead and then held his nerve to close out a 5-3 victory after Stompe fought back to make it 4-3.

Phil Taylor simply looks destined to win this competition again, he demolished Adrian Lewis 5-0 in his quarter-final last night. Although the scoreline suggests a good thrashing for Lewis, he didn't actually play that bad, it just goes to show just how strong Taylor is.

Mark Webster is good enough to cause an upset, but the way Taylor is playing you wouldn't give him a chance. Would I put any money on Webster? No chance.

Phil Taylor is 1/25 with William Hill, he is as short as 1/100 with some bookmakers.

Mark Webster is 16/1 with Sky Bet.

PDC World Darts Championship - Quarter Final Betting, Evening Matches

Live on Sky Sports 1 at 7.30pm

Match 1 - Raymond van Bareveld V Ronnie Baxter

A repeat fixture from last year when Baxter had darts to knock Barney out in the game of the tournament, but missed them all. Barney has been scratchy during this years competition, he has not looked himself at times but has still managed a nine darter.

Barney is favourite at 8/13 with Boylesports and Stan James

Baxter is 6/4 with Totesport

Match 2 - Phil Taylor V Adrian Lewis

Sky have been hyping this up as the game of the competition since the draw put them on course for a potential showdown. Taylor is as usual favourite, while Lewis is in arguably the form of his life. If he is ever ready to take Taylor out, surely it is now. Only time will tell.

Taylor is favourite at 1/5 with Coral and Boylesports

Lewis is 4/1 with Ladbrokes and Sportingbet
