ABOUT BETFAIR
Betfair was founded in August 1999 by Andrew Black and Edward Wray and in 2003 won a Queen's Award for Enterprise in the Innovation category following a full assessment by the Department of Trade and Industry, betfair has since become the largest online betting company in the UK and also is the largest betting exchange in the world with a turnover in excess of £50m a week and over 1,000,000 clients
HOW BETFAIR WORKS
On Betfair you have the opportunity to bet 'punter to punter' where you can back and lay a team, dog, horse etc to win or lose thus you eliminate the need for bookmakers. i.e when you 'back' a team, dog, horse etc, you are betting that it will win just like you do with a bookmaker. Whereas when you 'lay' it you are betting against it winning, if for example you think England won't win the World Cup you lay England, you offer odds to other backers who wish to back England.(Therefore you are effectively betting The Field Vs Eng) If England don't win, then you pick up the backers stake, if England win then you pay out in a way that traditional bookmakers would.
Betfair claims it's odds are up to 20% better than most bookmakers and whilst this may be true in most cases you have to take into consideration that they have a policy of taking commission (5% MAX) off the winning side of the bet.

Hammers fans be careful what you wish for!
All those hammers fans who were calling for and happy to see the end of Alan Curbishley's 20 month reign as hammers boss would do well to look at the current predicament Charlton find themselves in. If Curbishley's biggest crime was being safe from relegation by easter and not playing exciting enough football then personally I’d happily take that.
As much as Zola's football principles are admirable they do not necessarily win you points, when Curbishley left at the beginning of September on the back of West Ham’s best win of the season – a 4-1 thrashing of Blackburn – the hammers had taken 6 points from their first 3 games of the season, not the worst start ever I think you’d have to agree.
With the bottom half of the premier league being so tight this season its now not looking like such a good move to put a managerial novice like Zola in charge. If the West Ham board appointed him for his style of football and potential then they have to be applauded, but I fear their motives were purely financial – trying to appoint a big name on the cheap – rather than investing in someone they are prepared to stand by while he completes his managerial apprenticeship potentially in the championship.

Zola’s football knowledge and style are second to none but I think it’s looking more like a situation for an experienced head at the moment, for Curbishley’s part he might not have played the most enthralling football ever seen at Upton Park but he would have been shrewd and canny enough to comfortably keep the Hammers up.
In a similar way to the Geordie fans it comes down to what you want. Do you want the same bland stale football every week with no relegation worries? Or do you want more flamboyant stylish potentially losing football? It’s very admirable to take on Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal toe to toe at playing football but your not going to come out on top very often, you need to adopt a more robust or defensive style and try to upset their rhythm, stop them playing and be a bit more canny like a Bolton or an Aston Villa side would, personally I don’t think West Ham have that know how - Alan Curbishley might have done though.
Best odds on the Hammers to be relegated is 11/4 withBetfred

Goals Galore in The Premiership today
Goals are the order of the day today and two game stand out for me in particular.
Arsenal V Aston Villa - Arsenal were down and out last week according to the pundits, before their remarkable win against Man United and the kids magnificent performance in the carling cup against Wigan people were beginning to question Arsene Wengers judgement - that all seems long forgotten now. Villa on the other hand have started to stutter a little bit in recent weeks, their performances against Newcastle and Middlesbrough suggest the squad might be creaking a little bit under the strain of their UEFA cup and Premier league efforts.
I expect goals in this game as neither side have defended with any certainty lately, Villa's strenght are their set pieces and that seems to be an Arsenal weekness, the only slight doubt for me is the uncertainty of the participation of Carew and Adebayor in this match, but even so i still think Aresnal could be good for two or three this afternoon and i expect Villa to trouble the scorers as well.
Over 2.5 goals - best price 4/6 with Betfred, Stan James and Blue Sq. (Try out any of these bookmakers to bet free).
Fulham V Tottenham - What can you say about these two - last seasons games ended 5-1 and 3-3 - Andy Johnson has scored three in three and although Fulham have struggled to score all season the majority of their goals have come in their last few games. Spurs however with the hapless Gomes in goal (he should be fit after been carried off midweek) seem to be operating a policy of we'll score one more than you, you have no confidence they can keep a clean sheet, if Gomes plays his confidence must be low after two costly mistakes in midweek and Darren Bent is in a rich vein of form at the moment. Its hard to see either defence coming out on top in this one and for that reason the 10/11 on offer for over 2.5 goals looks a great bet.
Over 2.5 goals best price 10/11 with Stan James
Stan is best priced for both games if you fancy a double.
Or 5/6 @ Paddy Power, Blue Sq and Betfred.
There is free bets available with all of these bookmakers.

India V England ODI Series
It's almost upon us, friday sees the start of the latest ODI series between in-form India and an England side hoping to build upon the end of season improvement shown against South Africa. India have just regained the Border-Gavaskar trophy with a pretty convincing 2-0 series win over the aussies, whilst this was a test series as opposed to an ODI series - there was no ODI series against the aussies - you have to envisage that the indians will take a lot of self belief and confidence into the forthcoming seven games against the english.
Given home conditions and even taking into account England's brief resurgence under Kevin Pietersen it is hard to see past an Indian win, having said that England could pose the indians some problems - their pace attack seems to have found the right balance - the Indian wickets seem a lot more seamer friendly these days as Ishant Sharma has proved - and if they can continue the strong form from the end of last season and can be backed up by some strong batting there could be a bit more of a contest here than we think.
India best priced @ 1/2 with Totesport
England are best priced @ 7/4 with SportingBet and Stan James
There are free bets available with all of these bookmakers.

Boro look good value to continue hammer woes
Todays value bet seems to be at the riverside, while middlesbrough are anything but a home banker you have to think they're good value to beat a struggling west ham side today.
The hammers have lost four in a row now - although to be fair two of them were man utd and arsenal - and while they are attracting lots of friends with their pleasing on the eye brand of football it's not winning them any points. Losing may be starting to become a familiar habit to them, where as middlesbrough without pulling up any trees or looking like world beaters are accumulating points steadily and look like a team that know what they are supposed to be doing. In Alfonso Alves - i can't see man utd or chelsea raiding boro for him in the transfer window - they have a striker who will score enough goals to keep them in the premier league. For this reason i think middlesbrough look good value today.
With the 11/10 on offer from totepsort yesterday now gone the best price is evens with Betfred.
Home win for boro, evens @ Betfred (Betfred has £50.00 available to bet free with).
